About this program

No class May 18 Learn Eskrima, the national martial art of the Philippines! Also called Arnis or Kali, this centuries-old discipline blends indigenous warrior traditions with Spanish fencing. Our Adult Continuing Class builds on the skills developed in the Entry Class and deepens the students' understanding of single stick (Olisi), double stick (Sinawali), knife defenses (Baraway) and Filipino boxing (Pangamot). Students continue to develop their footwork, strikes, disarms and blocks through partner drills (Abecedario), then refine their skills through shadow boxing (Karenza) and controlled sparring games using padded sticks.
