A course for responsible youth at least 10 years of age who want to become a babysitter or may already be one. The babysitter course covers the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety tips for children of all ages, mealtimes, stages of play and development, diapering babies, basic childcare skills, and what to do in case of an emergency. Participants will receive a Child Safe Canada Babysitter Handbook and completion card. Attendance and competency requirements apply. The Home Alone program is recommended prior to taking babysitter training. The second half of the day is spent in the kitchen preparing delicious snacks and meals. If your child requires 1:1 support at school, the same level of support is required to participate in this day camp. Support workers are to be acquired by the family and require a Police Information Check to be completed a minimum of two weeks prior to the first day of your child attending day camp. Please visit the front desk at one of our recreation facilities to obtain the paperwork. Please email rec@tol.ca for more information. If less than 5 days notice is given, registration fees, less a 20% cancellation fee, will be refunded; registration fees are non-refundable once the program has started. Visit tol.ca/recreginfo for full information about withdrawals and refunds.
