About this program

Learn to take your ideas from the 2-dimensional planning stage into 3-dimensional realm. Participants with previous experience working with clay will learn the value of building from the bottom up to control firing variables, and reduce potential for flaws in clay sculptures. Discover techniques to render the surfaces, and create rich dark and light areas. Explore new tips and tricks as well as detailed information about tools and timing that can take all of your ceramic creations to new levels. This course is intermediate level and not suitable for beginners. Clay is not included in course fee. Purchase clay ticket from the Front Office prior to the start of class. Participants must bring their own tools. Due to the design of this course, no withdrawal/refunds after July 3. Making: July 13, 14, 16, 17. Glazing: July 27. Instructor: Emily Sheppard The instructor recommends bringing the following tools: metal serrated rib, various wooden modelling tools, string tool (wire), wooden chopsticks, small plastic container with lid, old kitchen basting brush or worn bristle brush Please note that participants will have the option of continuing to work on their ceramics in the Pottery Studio from 2:30-5:30pm on July 13-17 for additional Open Workshop fees.
