Ceramics: 2027 Wood Firing Reservation

About this program

This is an expression of interest for ceramic artists, potters and sculptors to participate in wood firings in 2027 (March, April, October). Registration will be determined by reservation list. The first 38 registrants will be offered 3 cubic feet in one of the firings in 2027. When registration is complete, the Ceramic Arts Programmer will contact registrants by phone to confirm firing dates. Waitlistees will be added to the reservation list in order of registration. Registrants may request to have their name added to the reservation list for a second firing, but priority may be given to those not already confirmed to participate in another wood firing. To have your name added to the reservation list after November 1, 2026, please contact the Ceramic Arts Programmer at 604-205-3012. Wood firing workshops are not suitable for beginners. All participants must have ceramic proficiency to bring 3 cubic feet of bisqueware in a range of different sizes. At least 1 cubic feet must be forms that are 8 inches or taller. Wood firings require participation in wood preparation and stoking. The cost of wood firing is $357.47 + tax, subject to change. The wood firing workshop includes glazing and wadding. Activity schedule: Wednesday: Measuring, Glazing & Wadding Shifts, 10am-2pm or 2:30-6:30pm (mandatory) Thursday: Kiln Loading Shifts, times variable (2-hour shift mandatory) Friday-Saturday: Firing, times variable (6-hour shift mandatory) Wednesday: Unloading & Shelf Grinding, 1:30-5:30pm (mandatory)
