Western raku is a low-temperature, fast-firing process for finishing your ceramic sculptures with dazzling effects. Traditional and contemporary raku glazes such as white crackle and metallic copper are provided. Bring 3-4 bisque-fired pieces that can each individually fit within a box measuring 6 inches squared. You may bring additional pieces in case there is extra room in the kiln. Work should be made with a sculpture clay or a grey clay with grog. Glazes included, bring your own brushes. Wear close-toed shoes and wool, cotton or linen long-sleeved clothing. Participants will glaze their work from 10am-12pm, followed by the firing. Participants are responsible for ensuring they have enough work prepared in advance of the firing date. No refunds after October 3.
