About this program

First Class: From Idea to Story How does one turn an idea into a short story? What are the elements needed? How can it resonate in a few short pages? We’ll bring an idea to the class, help each other with brainstorming ways in, and do a writing exercise. We’ll read what we came up with and plan how to execute, and work on it until we meet again. Second Class: Editing our 1,000 word short story. How to look for common mistakes and pitfalls. How to view your words with detachment, and how to view tropes. Where can we inject life into the tale, to really make it sing? 1,000 words is tough, each word must count!
