About this program
This class brings back the practical clothing repair skills that used to be part of everyday life. Participants learn essential hand sewing techniques such as sewing on buttons, repairing seams, fixing holes, taking in pants, and shortening hems. The focus is on empowering students to confidently maintain and extend the life of their clothing. Students will learn skills that are useful and practical for use in everyday life. Once the fundamentals are in place, the class expands into creative approaches to repair. Students explore visible mending practices, including decorative patching, sashiko inspired stitching, and artistic reinforcement of worn areas. This second layer of the class encourages participants to see repair not just as maintenance, but as a form of personal expression and sustainable design. Students bring their own garments to work on throughout the course, receiving guidance, demonstrations, and troubleshooting support. Refund Policy: A prorated refund is available for any withdrawals prior to the start of the 3rd class. Once the 3rd class starts, no refund will be provided.
