About this program
Ready to move beyond just clicking the shutter? Join Kerrisdale Cameras and instructor Gordon Montgomery for a hands-on lesson on how to make the most of your camera. Using the knowledge he has accumulated over more than 40 years of photography, Gordon will guide you through the processes, techniques, and settings that will help you take your photography from simple snaps to intentional art, including: How to creatively use shutter speed, aperture, and ISO to alter the look of your images How to use semi-manual modes and when to go fully manual. Focus and exposure management The difference between wide angle, standard, and telephoto lenses, and how to use them creatively Understanding quality of light, from the golden and blue hours to harsh midday sun Basic compositional rules and when to break them. The difference between a snapshot (documenting a scene) and a creative photograph (capturing a feeling) Please note that, while the course material is designed around Mirrorless and DSLR cameras, those with point-and-shoot cameras capable of manual control will still be able to benefit from the workshop. What to Bring: • DSLR, Mirrorless, or Point-and-Shoot Camera (all brands welcome!) • Memory card
