Learn about the ancient art and practice of paper marbling! Make designs on water to create a unique piece of marbled paper to take home. Parsa Khatami will share the cultural history of Persian marbling, demonstrate the process, and guide participants in creating their own pieces, inviting you to slow down, connect with tradition, and craft something uniquely your own. All materials will be provided. About the Artist Amir is a marbling artist who has practiced his craft for over 42 years. Earlier this July, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and stepped away from his career as a dentist to focus on recovery. During this period, he returned to marbling as a way to heal and achieve peace. He now hopes to share this art with others and teach the basics of marbling in a warm, inclusive setting. What You Can Expect in the 90-Minute Workshop • Learn the history and cultural background of marbling • Learn two foundational marbling techniques • Create your own marbled papers to take home and frame All materials are provided. Frequently Asked Questions Who is this workshop for? Suitable for adults, and seniors of all skill levels. No prior art experience is required. Is the workshop accessible? Yes. Techniques can be adapted for different functional and mobility levels. Seated participation is fully supported. Do participants need to bring anything? No. All materials, tools, and paper are included. Will my artwork be dry before I leave? Yes. Papers typically dry within 45 minutes and can be taken home the same day. What should I wear? Aprons are provided, but we recommend wearing clothing you don’t mind getting a small splash of paint on. Is this a hands-on workshop? Yes. Each participant will create their own marbling patterns with guided assistance. Can beginners participate? Absolutely. The workshop is designed for first-time learners and is beginner-friendly
