About this program

This Course is part of the Shadbolt's long-term progressive training program. Modern dance is distinguished by its use of expression, exploration and movement invention. This dance form focuses on dynamic alignment, use of gravity and momentum through the exploration of floor work and sequences that move three-dimensionally through space. Students explore the concepts of body, dynamics, shape and space to the sounds of live percussion music. The focus is on dance as an art form and students are given the tools to develop self-expression in a process oriented environment. Please note this class take place on Saturday; other dates listed are rehearsal and performance days and are subject to change. Fee includes cost of accompanist. Extra fees for performance ($17.00), and costume ($30.00). Instructor: Gabriela Galindo. Please pick up a long-term dance handbook at the front office for more information and dress code requirements. Payment plan option (via credit card payments) available: 50% of payment due at time of registration, 25% due on Dec 15, and 2 payment 25% due on Mar 15, 2026. “To give long-term arts students ample time to determine if a long-term program is right for them, students can attend 4 classes before a year long commitment is required. If you withdraw during this period, you will be charged only for each class you attend without being charged the City of Burnaby refund fee of 10%. Withdrawals/refunds are NOT permitted after the start of the 5th class of a long-term program.”
