About this program
Sing, Dance, Act. Tell a story. In this fun and intensive program, young performers will be guided through the creation of two narrative driven public performances featuring complete plotlines, character development, and integrated choreography. Taught by professional performing artists and accompanied by live music, the Junior Ensemble learns about basic singing techniques, creative expression and basic rhythms. There is a focus on creative play and an exploration of how stories are created and developed in this discipline. The fall session is spent working towards an in-studio performance of an original musical revue in the style of the classic Holiday Special of stage and screen. In collaboration with the senior ensemble, the winter and spring sessions develop and rehearse a full-length musical show, to be performed in the Shadbolt Centre’s Studio Theatre, incorporating rehearsed lighting, staging and sound design by our professional technical staff. Bringing stories to life and bringing people together. Instructors: Illya Mulji & Evelyn Evelyn Dlouhy To give long-term arts students ample time to determine if a long-term program is right for them, students can attend 4 classes before a year long commitment is required. If you withdraw during this period, you will be charged only for each class you attend without being charged the City of Burnaby refund fee of 10%. Withdrawals/refunds are NOT permitted after the start of the 5th class of a long-term program. Payment Plan option (via credit card payments) available: 50% of payment due at time of registration, 25% due on Dec 15, and 25% due on Mar 15.
