No experience required, beginners welcome. Program Overview The Urban Park Activation crew and Queer Inclusion staff are teaming up to offer a weekly afternoon date of community building and all-ages play at sθәqәlxenәm ts’exwts’áxwi7 (rainbow) park! Join us to juggle, spin, twirl, and flow with some basic guidance from QI staff, or make connections and new friends at the board game tables, or both! Circus gear and board games provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Special event: on Thursday July 31st, our activity will be Pride-related, making bracelets, keychains, and bag charms in rainbow colours. All supplies provided. Learn more about sθәqәlxenәm ts’exwts’áxwi7 park, including pronunciation recordings and written hints, here . Program Leader This session is facilitated by members of the Queer Inclusion and Urban Park Activation Program Assistant team Plan Ahead This is a public park environment! Expect families, tourists, and downtown residents to be sharing the space, including folks with dogs and other pets. Please leave valuables at home or keep them attached to you. Bring ear buds or headphones if you wish to listen to music while you flow. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated in the summer heat. Do not bring anything scented (body products, clothing with residue from scented laundry products or smoke), or any props that have been burned or fuel-soaked (even with covers). In the circus play area, we provide hoops, juggling balls and clubs, poi, diabolo and more. We may need to limit use of larger props depending on the turnout and available space. In the table top game area, we provide board games, chess sets, and playing cards. Public washrooms are available. Program Specifics This program is weekly on Thursdays, July 9 - Aug 27th, from 12-4pm at sθәqәlxenәm ts’exwts’áxwi7 (rainbow) park, located downtown at the corner of Richards and Smithe streets. Free, drop-in only. For more information about this program, email QueerInclusion@vancouver.ca
