About this program
Spring session confirmed to start April 7, no need to check back after March 16th! Click on Sub Activities to register for this program. Participants This program is for parents or caregivers with Infants and toddlers, 0-5 years, who are Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bi/Pan, Trans, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Agender + other orientation and gender identities (2SLGBQIA+), centering those who are Two Spirit, trans, or gender diverse (2STGD). Caregivers outside that description are welcome to attend with their 2STGD infant or toddler. Cis partners of a 2STGD parent are also welcome to attend with their infant or toddler. No experience required, all are welcome. Program Overview Connect with other 2SLGBTQIA+ parents and caregivers while learning rhymes, songs, bounces and other playful tools for language and literacy development with your child (0-5yrs) Program Leader This program is offered as a partnership, and includes leadership by librarian staff from the Vancouver Public Library and program assistants from the Queer Inclusion team. Plan Ahead This program was previously exclusive to 2STGD parents and guardians. To help ensure the comfort of 2STGD participants and leaders, cis gender participants without past experience in trans spaces are encouraged to check out TransCareBC's Intro to Gender Diversity course or similar resources to learn more about 2STGD people ahead of time so our program remains accessible and affirming for 2STGD folks. Personal belongings can be brought inside the room, strollers may fit inside or need to remain outside in the hallway. Do not bring anything scented (body products, clothing with residue from scented laundry products) Story books, toys and packaged snacks will be provided. Our space will have overhead and natural lighting. The floor will be partially covered by a rug. Folding chairs and a piano bench are available, other seating can be arranged by request. Ground floor washrooms are binary with "gender diverse people welcome" signage. A single-user washroom is available in the rink lobby. Second floor is accessed by stairs or elevator, accessible parking spots are at groud level with ramp or stair access into the building. Program Specifics This program is weekly on Tuesdays at 10:30-Noon in the Maple Room at Trout Lake Community Centre Free For more information about this program, email 2STGD@vancouver.ca
