About this program

Our program offers this service to children enrolled and attending Nootka Elementary School. We offer a variety of activities including outdoor play/nature walks, free play/exploration and/or structured activities, individual/small group activities, active and/or quiet time. Examples of activities include but not limited to board games, puzzles, dramatic play, arts and crafts, etc. A relaxing atmosphere will also be provided for children to read and complete homework. Through our practice, we aim to create an environment that facilitates learning opportunities that promote awe and wonder, and to embrace children and young people’s natural curiosity about the world around them. *Light afternoon snack is provided. *Care is based on the school’s schedule and includes care on Early Dismissal Days. *Kindergarten: due to other programs running at the centre, we are unable to accommodate families during gradual entry into Kindergarten. We are only available during scheduled hours (3pm to 6pm). *Winter and Spring Breaks are not included in the monthly fees. Our program does not operate during these school breaks. However, our community centre offers Day Camps at an additional cost. Registration for Day Camps are done at the front desk/online and should be done as soon as registration is open since there are limited spaces and it is open to the public. Please see the Recreation Guide for Day Camp opportunities. *We do not provide care on Professional Days and District Closure Days as well as the first day of school as children attend school only for one hour. *Children currently registered in Renfrew Park Preschool and children registered in the current year of Out of School Care will be given first priority to register for the subsequent year.
