About this program
Explore the rich cultural tradition of Salish weaving in this hands-on workshop led by Spelex̱i̓lh(Anjeanette Dawson), one of the women from the Squamish community who helped revive this important art form. Participants will learn foundational weaving techniques including twining methods, tension control, and the creation of a wool-woven quarter bag, while discussing natural fibres, traditional tools, and the cultural significance of weaving in community and ceremony. Through storytelling and guided instruction, participants will gain an appreciation for the patience, skill, and revitalization of this meaningful Indigenous art practice. All proceeds go to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.
