About this program

Students spend an intensive weekend exploring a fresh way to see colours and learn how to develop a simple colour palette. Learn the properties of colours, how to make a monochromatic painting, several ways to plan and maintain your colours, and understand ways to apply colours to create depth in your painting. While this workshop will give you an opportunity to focus on colours and their creative possibilities, the focus remains on individual feedback to actualize your vision. Suitable for both ACRYLIC & OIL painters. Please bring an idea or reference material for this workshop. If possible, bringing fresh garden flowers to share as a painting reference would be appreciated. If you are using a photo as a reference, bring a printed copy. Bring multiple ideas, and with instructor advise, choose which one to develop into a painting. See STUDENT SUPPLY LIST in Notes section below. Instructor: Eri Ishii About the Artist: Eri Ishii is a Vancouver artist working mostly in oil paint. Her work stems from her love of oils as it's buttery texture and depth of colours provide an ideal medium to explore the visual language of painting. Eri has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally including Halde Galerie in Switzerland, Taiwan National Art Education Museum, and Canvas Gallery in Toronto. Her work has been featured in various publications including the Vancouver Sun, the Globe & Mail and the Province. She is currently represented by the Ian Tan Gallery.
