Summer Smash Tennis: Junior Fundamentals (7.5-10 yrs)

Young beginners with little or no experience are introduced to the game through high energy, game-based lessons that use the ½ stage of the progressive tennis model. An emphasis is placed on inspiring a love for the game while building a strong technical foundation. Held INDOORS in the gymnasium. No class on Tuesday, October 13. Student Background Beginning to develop technique for groundstrokes. Still developing ability to rally consistently (10+) from service line. Development Focus Develop a love for tennis and sport in a positive environment. Develop and integrate reception and projection skills for movement and tracking. Develop full-motion groundstrokes with modern technique. Develop cooperative and competitive rally skills. Student Groupings Students will be split into small groups based on age and skill. Since 2012, Summer Smash Tennis has provided tennis programs and classes to community centres and schools across Vancouver. Our coaches are certified instructors who have worked with hundreds of students to inspire a passion for tennis and sport. We share a common goal of creating safe, fun and challenging learning environments for all students. Through the use of the Progressive Tennis teaching method, students are given the foundation to excel as players for life. Read more at www.summersmashtennis.ca. All students MUST print our activity waiver off from our website www.summersmashtennis.ca and bring a signed copy to the FIRST class. All tennis lessons are taught by a Tennis Canada Certified Instructor and/or a BC Ministry Certified Teacher. Students are expected to bring their own racquets to the lesson, and to come dressed in athletic clothing with athletic shoes. Students are expected to bring water.
