About this program

More information: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/kitsilano-clothing-swap-tickets-1988917793661 Join Threading Change and the City of Vancouver for an afternoon of clothing swapping, conversation, and connection! Join Threading Change and the City of Vancouver in Snowys Lounge at the Kitsilano Community Centre for an afternoon of clothing swapping, conversation, connection, and discovering your next favorite outfit. Bring your 1-10 pieces of well loved clothing, friends, neighbors, and community members to swap clothes and give new life to pre-loved pieces—all while helping keep textiles out of landfills. Let’s make sustainable fashion a shared experience! Clothing Audit: We ask participants to fill out a short survey about how many times they've worn certain items. This helps us gather data on clothing use so we can better understand shopping habits and promote more sustainable choices. You can fill out ahead of time here: https://forms.gle/p2KtkHT9Mboadiij9. Important Info: We will be located in Gymnasium. Please note: No socks or underwear at the swap. Jewelry can be swapped if it has been cleaned. Swimsuits and bras can be swapped if they have never been worn, ideally with the tag still attached. We encourage mindful consumerism at all of our events - read our blog to discover more! *Change rooms will be limited* About Threading Change: Threading Change is a youth-led, justice-oriented global organization created to address the systemic injustices and inequities that persist in the global fashion industry today. We address the fashion industry holistically, which includes everything from the way we communicate sustainable fashion to how invite global communities affected by the industry at the table. Fashion can be a hugely wasteful industry, using excessive resources like water and textiles and over-producing clothes through trends. Donations: As this is a free event, donations to Threading Change are appreciated! Please find the link to our donation page here: https://fundrazr.com/32TqE4?ref=ab_ASXlxeohc84ASXlxeohc84 Land Acknowledgement: We respectfully acknowledge that this event is taking place on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) territories. Questions? Please email sara@threadingchange.org or hello@threadingchange.org and we'll get back to you as fast as we can!
