As school academics in a game and leadership training model, playing chess and being smart are interconnected. Chess teaches higher level thinking skills such as visualization, analysis and critical thinking. Knighted with a ‘commander’ self-image amidst a ‘friends-learning-together’ classroom setting, kids get trained in life-skills goal-setting: checkmate! For anyone proficient with pins, forks, outpost and other chess tactics and advanced strategies. No class June 5.
