About this program

As school academics in a game – and leadership training model - playing chess and being smart are interconnected. There's a strong correlation between chess and academic achievement including math, spatial analysis and non-verbal reasoning ability. Knighted with a ‘commander’ self-image, kids get trained in a growth-mindset life-skills goal setting: checkmate! Open to kids 5-10 yrs old; anyone new or with limited knowledge of chess-art basics: move, capture, castling, en passant capture, checkmate, notation, etc. Complimentary FREE chess kit for new students. No classes: May 17, 2026 (Victoria Day), June 7 and June 21, 2026 (National Indigenous Peoples Day)
